Club member (and V.P.) Ed Brett organized a trip to Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, near Lawton OK on the 17th and 18th. Saturday morning, we drove from Tulsa to Oklahoma city and south to Lawton.

We ate lunch first at the Riverside Café, in Medicine Park, where I took our picture, Ken, Georgia, Berneal, Ed, Charles, Shaun (Charles' friend), Linda, Scott and I (empty chair). the desk was beside Medicine creek, the 2nd photo is the bank of Medicine Creek taken from the deck. After lunch we drove through the refuge and saw Bison (Buffalo) The refuge was created by Presidents McKinley and Teddy Roosevelt and covers 59,000 acres. Bison, Elk, prairie dogs are all there. We drove up to the top of Mt. Scott, 2,464 ft. high. and looked down on the valley, lake Lawtonka and lake Elmer Thomas. Both are man made by damming Medicine creek. On Mt. Scott you can see the interesting igneous rocks and cobblestones, which are used to build some of the houses. After touring the park visitor's center we ate dinner at Bricktown Brewery in Lawton. We were going to see the museum at Ft. Sill, on Sunday, but it is closed on Sundays, and tornados were moving in, so we all left for home Sunday morning. Everyone arrived safely back to Tulsa.
