Jaguar Company origins
Jaguar began in 1922 as the Swallow Sidecar Company, founded by William Lyons and William Walmsley, which made motorcycle sidecars and car bodies.
The company was renamed SS Cars Limited and released the SS Jaguar 1.5 Litre Saloon in 1935, the first car to bear the Jaguar name.
After World War II, the company was renamed Jaguar Cars.
